This is a brilliant dramatisation of a point using a map, from a Daily Mail article. We should use maps to make points more, I think.

Anyhow, it depicts how a family have lived in a house for 4 generations. The great-grandfather used to be allowed to walk alone 6 miles to go fishing, and noone thought anything of it, but now the modern day great grandson isn't even allowed past the end of his road in case he gets abducted by evil monsters/hit by cars. And simply because the other parents don't let their children do it.



Ironic that the Daily Mail of all places highlights this, as they are the the biggest paedophile scare paper out there.

People limiting their own freedom (and that of their families) due to fear is a subject quite close to my heart. It also includes being groped/having your lip balm stolen at airports.

This is a banana necklace made from recycled toys found in car boot sales around london. It's 100% handcrafted and unique, made by ethnic labourer, in our hackney workshop.

BBC World US ads

Nice new BBC World ads for their US launch. They use a simple text poll mechanic to bring to life current issues.



Granted, there are about a million other campaigns that have the same idea (HSBC: Art/Rubbish, Dove: Fat or Fit), but they do the job well for now.

why communications?

A lot of the time these days, we're talking about stuff which gives consumers real value, "enabling" them, defining our marketing through actions, and a million other things that we don't actually end up doing.

We need to stop thinking of ourselves as in the "communications" business.
