bathing in tic tacs

Tesco sell these shower gels which I really like. I use them both at once and it's just like being inside a lime and orange Tic Tacs box.

What other confectionary related experiences can you create from other household things?

life planning

I've been not blogging much recently, and thinking about things like what to do with my life. Here are a couple of good articles that I found:

pirate related promotions

I really like this promotion (seen in the bookstore in Harrods) because it invites you to be creative, if you want to be. But not if you don't. What counts as a Pirate-related purchase anyway? What if you went downstairs and bought a vintage sextant? Or a big sea chart? Or a copied DVD from those dodgy guys outside? It gets you thinking totally about what piracy is all about, and into a really pirate mood. Neat.

bicycle mounted flower vase

DSC00835

Every bike should have one. It's made from:

the plastic cover off an 8 inch glowstick
a jubilee clip
an old reflector mount
Araldite (epoxy glue)
spray carnations
a bit of black plastic pipe
some inner tube for padding

It seems to be be pretty sturdy, even at speed. You have to be quite careful what flowers you put in it though. I think more things should have flowers on them.

The Sea Cow - no more wonder in this world

Aside from the crowds and busy-ness, and the pleasant hanging around, I really liked this thing at Fruitstock, Regents Park. I have no idea what it is, aside from that it's food - saw some people eating it.

the sea cow food boxes

I could probably find out very easily with one Google search, but I refuse, because I'll probably be dissapointed. That's the thing with the generation of digital natives - there's no more "I wonder what...", because you can find out in a snap on the Internet. Does this mean we're less imaginative? Probably not.

In fact, the only fact left in my brain that I still wonder about is that my Dad, Francis Goh, an accountant, used to use the pseudo-name "John G Fontayne" sometimes. I don't know where he got this name from, but I vaguely remember he only started it when he came back from a business trip to the US. Should I get a comment from someone in the US who is called John Fontayne and remembers my Dad, I will be half-happy, but also very dissapointed.

little things offend people

I was in Sainsburys, and suddenly heard a couple swearing and complaining to themselves about how disgusting that was, and it was a disgrace.

It turned out they were referring to the bargain shelf, and how meat had been put next to all the other stuff. What a crazy thing to be offended by - maybe a religious belief of some kind. I love finding new and unusual behaviour in supermarkets.

yuck

This must be the grossest thing to eat I have ever seen. Ridiculously regular and flat bits of bread and cheese material. It looks so dry and artificial. Nothing you have to eat should be so slab sided. Even McDonalds Quarter pounders are built more organically than these.

Victoria and Albert Museum Village Fete

This is a brilliant day out. It's lots of creative little stalls from young designers and design-related professions.
