BBBBQ

I hereby declare the Inaugural Bicycle Booze BBQ to be a total success.

Picture 019
It's a bicycle, with a full-on BBQ attached to it.

Last weekend we attached a BBQ to a bicycle, and a big tank of Pimms to another bicycle, and pedalled around East London, cooking and drinking.

Hal gets the hang of it.

rathbone market

...is somewhere near Canning Town, and has brilliant, old school, slightly anachronistic shop signs. Every single store on this street has 80's or 70's signs - about 20 in a row. Show-stopping.

More pics here.

lasers

Not news or anything, but why can't there please be more lasers in and around London? After all, they are still very very cool.

DSC00256
This laser at Greenwich shines along the Prime Meridian, GMT +00:00.

It's obvious what it denotes, and very memorable. If I was a brand, I would try develop a strategy that was long lasting and true to my product, and find ways to be useful and interesting like this Greenwich laser.

E.g. If I was a brand that was about booze, bars and mainstream kind of clubbing, I would put a huge laser in Leicester Sq, or a big laser on top of CentrePoint (very visible building in Soho, used for navigation) that pointed to different nightspots. I would then extend this strategy to other cities/countries, so people looking for a this kind of thing could just get to any city, and follow the huge red laser toward guaranteed good times.

summer drink recipe - gin and tonic vanilla float

Me and my housemate once again find ourselves pushing the boundaries of sensible and delicious food and beverage.

Gin and Tonic Vanilla float
1 large measure of gin
half a glass of tonic
1 large scoop of vanilla icecream
1 cinnamon stick

Pour gin, then tonic into a highball glass. Add the ice cream, and half heartedly mix it using a cinnamon stick. Serve.

Eating technique (Standard European method for any float - Coke, 7up, etc):
Spend the first couple of minutes eating the foam and icecream using a spoon, and direct-to-mouth. After enough icecream has melted, slurp the now mixed/melting drink direct-to-mouth, through the foam. The slurping, combined with the foam bubbles, brings extra oxygen into the drink, which makes it tastier and more refreshing.

teletubbies remix video

My friend n ! L e - chunkified.com sent me this. To be fair, this would have been great with any few cuts of teletubbies videos and any silly hip hop track. But what makes it for me is the merciless attention to the detail in the rhythm - someone has spent time getting the moves exactly right with the tune.

It's the kind of detail that you take for granted with professional productions (e.g. ads), that is now becoming necessary and more common in amateur created content. Props.

panda dog

I own a white gerbil, who is now going to get panda'd. Currently on a desperate Internet hunt to find this non-toxic dog dye that's all the rage in Korea (and now LA).

fried eggs over easy

Just to clarify, "over easy" refers to eggs that are flipped over, but the yolk is still runny. Read more here at Wikipedia. I recently had cause to work out how to do this whilst keeping the yolk intact. The key stage is to get the egg up with the yolk touching the pan, then let it gently flop over.
From there the right amount of time is about 20 seconds. Just in case you didn't know.
