Booze

This is a can of Super in a phonebox - it's strongly evocative of a great story. I wanted to know how the can got in there and what the phone conversation was like, how the guy fumbled dropping change then urinated in the phone box. Who do people that are wasted on Super even call? Or maybe they weren't even in there to make a call.

For those who don't know 'super' or 'spesh' (Special Brew) is high strength, budget-focussed lager, a.k.a. binner brew or tramp juice (good website here).

Walking down the street about 50 yards, I find this – it’s the best shop window display of anything I've seen in a while. Bright colours, patterns, loads of spesh - this must be like seeing the image of God on the Sistine Chapel ceiling for tramps.

Carrying on with the booze theme, this is a Jack Daniels ad on the tube. Call me cynical, but I can't really picture any kind of domestic bliss involving a whiskey-obsessed barrelman, Diane, and a dog. This is a guy who names his dog 'Butch', by the way.

I went for a night out in “Norwich” town centre. Quite good. Lots of hotties, lots of police. Anyway this late night pissed-food shop has definitely got it right with the neon. It’s like a lighthouse for hungry drunken revellers, and I reckon it gets used as a meeting point and geographical reference as well. Mega Munch.
